A Cinematographer’s Dream, what is it? To buy his or her first camera!! There is no greater feeling than buying your own camera. To buy his or her first camera!! There is no greater feeling than buying your own camera.
In part two of the Back to the Past series, I remember my first camera. My first camera was a Canon 7D. Let me tell you this, I worked hard to save up for this camera…..I’m lying, I used my student loan refund to buy the camera. Don’t judge me! I was in undergrad film school and all of my peers started getting Canon Rebel cameras. Naturally, I was jealous. I figured the only way I was going to get better, was to have my own camera. I finally got my camera and I was so hype. When I mean hype, I mean using it for everything, but I had no idea how to use it. But, I had slow motion and I realized I had a better camera than majority of my peers. LOL WINNING!!!! I took this camera everywhere and tried to shot everything with it. It wasn’t until I really started using it was when I noticed IT SUCKED IN LOW LIGHT. I can honestly say you don’t know it sucks until you actually touch a Canon 5D Mark 2 or Mark 3. The Canon 7D is a beautiful camera when it has a strong lens. The Canon 7D can helped me learn about lens selection. The DSLR has a 1.6 crop sensor, so a lens focal length is not the natural focal length when put it on a Canon 7D. A 50mm lens is a 80mm lens. The Canon 7D forced me to know exactly what lens I needed to accomplish the shot I wanted. It also allowed me to train my cinematic eye. The things I see now, were made possible from my Canon 7D. Thank you Canon 7D for all you have done and sorry I sold you! LOLVisit Intellect Media for more blogs!
